There is nothing but swamp for as far as the eye can see. No dry land. Current of fresh water from the swamp to the ocean is coming from the northwest. Spending the night on the sand bar, we notice there are swarms of crocs/alligators out there. We travel west in the morning, then south the next day, attacked by giant tree frogs until we figure out how to not look like prey. Our intent is to go to the mountains to the south, assuming settlements will be on the higher ground.
On the fourth night, we are attacked by seven, low-powered Sahaguin, four of which we kill before the remainder run off. We are uncertain whether they are specifically tracking us, or if it's just coincidence and not Sahaguin sent by The Master.
Bel is disturbed: this is the first time she has killed another sentient being. She confesses this to Jessa the next day and learns that they feel similarly about killing; neither likes it, but they have done it each time to protect others from harm.
