Kayla enters the dream state during her rest period and travels to the location of the tree. She sees tracks indicating that a group of Yaunti Malison took the tree. There is a set of Yaunti tracks leading away, along with a number of other bi-pedal tracks (roughly humanoid, with a somewhat irregular and slow gait - possibly Gruum or undead shambling monsters?). Darwynn creates 2 tangle foot bags while she is on her watch.
When everyone is awake they head to the location of the tree. Kayla points out two hiding Quauhtliyaotl, who come out to greet the party. Darwynn is able to make out the word Patli when they greet the Party with a great deal of chatter in their native language. Shelby Thundersword takes the hand of one of the Quauhtliyaotl and they attempt to enter the dream state but are unsuccessful. Glowen is also unsuccessful when she tries to enter the dream state with the other Quauhtliyaotl. One of the Quauhtliyaotl draws a series of symbols in the dirt, and Darwynn is able to decipher them. The indicate that the tree went in one direction and was handed off to what appear to be other trees. Something was taken from the tree (sap?) and went in the other direction.
The Party indicates that they are going after the tree and the Quauhtliyaotl indicate the locations of the two groups. The Yaunti and bi-pedal tracks are headed to a northern location one day away where they indicate there is a Tiefling. The tree has been taken to a northeastern location about 5 days away. Kayla is able to remember that the tree mentioned that there are other corrupt and evil trees living on the island. After getting more information about where the groups are headed, the Party decides to pursue the Yaunti and bi-pedal tracks first. As the Party approaches the desired location, Glowen and Kayla scout ahead and discover a Yaunti casting magic and two undead with possibly more in the area. They report back to the Party and the group (unsuccessfully) attempts to sneak up on them. Battle ensues.
After defeating the bad guys, the Party discover 3 tombs that date back to before the original Tiefling wars. Two of the tombs had recently been opened and something was removed by the Yaunti. The Yaunti killed by the Party was trying to open the third tomb, and was using the sap of the elder tree to engage the local plant life to help excavate the tomb. Darwynn indicated that the remaining tomb will be very difficult to get into and could be completely destroyed if the Party is not careful about how they open it. They decided not to open it. Shelby performed a ritual on the tombs to assist the remains in returning to a restful slumber. The Party decided to now go after the tree.
