The Party returns to the Outcasts with the plant so that potions can be made of its flowers. Papantzlin takes four hours to perform the ritual for each person to allow them to manipulate their dreams, and then completes the event with a 1 hour ritual involving the entire Party that binds each member of the group to each other so that they can assist each other in the dream realm. Once this is completed and the Party has rested, they head out to the collapsed volcano that houses the fire creatures. On the way, Darwynn creates 5 additional Alchemist's Frost, bringing the Party's total to 6 while Marzolo creates 10 new healing potions.

The Party decides to use the Myconian tunnels to travel to the volcano. They use a number of skills to find their way through, with one mishap where Darwynn led the group into a passage full of lava, and another where Marzolo took them into a worse lava pit involving a cave-in. Eventually, the group follows Glowen to a chasm that leads into the heart of the buried (not dormant) volcano. Kayla suggests that an underground river could be used to destroy the volcano. Unfortunately, this would take weeks to accomplish.

When the Party moves into the cavern, they see two fire dogs guarding the entrance. Marzolo recognizes them as hell hounds. Glowen entices one of the hell hounds to come towards the tunnel that the party is hiding in. Kayla makes an ox noise to try to entice it further, but the hell hound bays and calls 2 flame snakes to investigate. The snakes leap up into the tunnel. The Party hides and the snakes eventually leave the tunnel and go back into the chasm. The Party then decides to ambush one of the hell hounds. They quickly end up in combat with both hell hounds and both flame snakes. Glowen finishes off both hell hounds. Kayla and Marzolo killed the flame snakes. Darwynn healed the party and they sneaked forward into the volcano.

The Party comes across a priest in the process of summoning a giant fire creature. He is guarded by 2 hell hounds, 2 flaming zombies, and 2 flame snakes. The group ambushed the fire creatures. Kayla killed a snake and the priest, Shelby Thundersword and Glowen each killed a hell hound, and Marzolo killed a fire zombie. Marzolo ended up dying - Shelby Thundersword grabbed his body and put it into the bag of holding and ran from the chamber, leaving behind a flame snake and the giant fire creature that has not yet been fully summoned.
